Bangladesh confirmed 13 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, till 8am Tuesday.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,298, reads a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the last 24 hours, 396 people were tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 541,434.
The latest day's infection rate was 2.68% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country to date was 13.97%. At present, the death rate stands at 1.53%.
Among the latest day's victims, 10 were men and three were women. Nine of them hailed from Dhaka, two from Chattogram, and one each from Barishal and Mymensingh division.
All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 14,788 samples were tested in 212 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,877,042 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 751 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 488,621 with a 90.25% recovery rate.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victim's shows that 6,281 of the total deceased were men and 2,017 were women.
The country's maiden case was reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
