Some 1,431 police personnel have tested Covid-19 positive as of Saturday, according to sources at the Police Headquarters.

Of those who have contracted the virus, 2,330 are from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone.

In the last 24 hours, 129 members of the country's police force tested positive for Covid-19.

So far 7,463 policemen have recovered from the virus.

Some 11,505 cops are under home quarantine and 4,781 others are in institutional isolation.

44 members of the police have so far died of the novel coronavirus.
