105 new Covid-19 cases in Chattogram, two more deaths
Although 1,099 samples were tested on Friday, the number of samples tested on Saturday dropped by more than half
105 new cases of Covid -19 were identified and two people died from the viral infection in Chattogram in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 positive people in the district stands at 11,490, according to a report published by the District Civil Surgeon's Office on Sunday.
The total death count has reached 216.
At the same time, a total of 37 people have recovered.
Some 425 samples were tested in different labs of the port city on Saturday.
Although 1,099 samples were tested on Friday, the number of samples tested on Saturday dropped by more than half.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, "Of the infected people, 61 are from the city and 44 live in different upazilas."
Of the 44 patients, seven are from Satkania, Anwara, Patiya, Boalkhali, Rangunia, Raozan and Fatikchhari, 25 are from Hathazari, three are from Sandwip, six are from Mirsorai and three are from Sitakunda upazila.
On Saturday, 45 out of 146 samples tested in Chattogram University lab, and 25 out of 227 samples tested in Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) came out positive.
On the other hand, 43 out of 102 samples tested in Chattogram Medical College Lab and 20 out of 116 samples tested in Chattogram Veterinary University were detected positive for coronavirus.
Also, 14 out of 78 samples tested in Chattogram Medical College Hospital and 28 out of 129 samples tested in Chevron Lab came out positive.
