Bangladesh confirms fourth death from coronavirus, 6 new cases

Bangladesh has confirmed fourth death, a 70-year-old person, from the novel coronavirus and six new cases in last 24 hours in the country.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora made the disclosure in a press briefing today.

She also said, there are 40 coronavirus patients in isolation and 46 are in institutional quarantine in different hospitals.

"Among new six coronavirus patients, one died at the hospital. Among other five patients- one returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah, other four patients came in contact with previously infected Covid-19 patients," the IEDCR director added. 

IEDCR confirmed first death from coronavirus infection on March 18, second death on March 21 and third death on March 23. And with the new six cases, the total number of infected patients is now 39 in the country.

About 382,644 people around the world have been infected with the deadly virus and 16,587 deaths were reportedly globally till date.
