32,000 poor families in Chattogram to get government aid to fight coronavirus
17,000 families will get 10 kilogrammes of rice each and 15,000 families will get Tk10 lakh
A total of 32,000 destitute families in Chattogram will get 170 tonnes of rice and Tk10 lakh from the government to fight the crisis resulting from coronavirus.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, District Officer of Disaster Management and Relief, Sajib Kumar Chakrabarty, said, "17,000 families will get 10 kilogrammes of rice each. The other 15,000 families will get Tk10 lakh."
"The relief will be distributed in 15 cities and upazilas," he added.
No coronavirus patient has been identified yet in Chattogram, said local Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.
"One hundred and fifty beds are ready in two hospitals to treat coronavirus patients and 900 people are in home quarantine," he added.
