The country's renowned power supply equipment manufacturer -- Sylvan Technologies Limited -- has started manufacturing power transformer in its factory.
Md Sirazul Islam, executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida), recently inaugurated the power transformer plant located at Habiganj Industrial Park, said a media statement issued on Saturday.
Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman and CEO of Pran-RFL Group; and Eleash Mridha, its managing director, apprised the Bida chairman of their various aspects of production process.
The Bida chairman expressed satisfaction over the overall activities of the factory.
Sylvan Technologies Limited, a sister concern of Pran-RFL Group, is manufacturing single-phase and three-phase distribution transformers besides power transformers and supplying them to various government and non-government organisations under the brand STL (Sylvan Technologies Limited).
Sirazul Islam said: "I am very happy to see various kinds of transformers which are now being manufactured in Bangladesh maintaining standard technology."
This is a good example that Bangladesh is not now import-dependent. This kind of activities will play an important role in ensuring 100% electrification, he added.
Engineer Mostafizur Rahman Khan, chief operating officer at Sylvan Technologies Ltd, said, "Various power distribution panels including transformers for making electric sub-stations are being manufactured in the factory."
"STL is manufacturing transformers using standard raw materials, modern machines, skilled manpower and modern testing technology," he added.
