Robi, Coats and Lafarge contribute Tk2,84,76,000 to labour welfare fund

Mobile operating company Robi Axiata Ltd, sewing thread company Coats, and cement company LafargeHolcim Ltd have altogether donated Tk2,84,76,000 from the last year's profit to Bangladesh Labour Welfare Fund.
Representatives from the respective organisations handed over the cheques to State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian at the secretariat on Wednesday, said a press release.
Md Faisal Imtiaz Khan, head of human resources of Robi, handed over a cheque worth Tk1,33,98,310.
Coats' Human Resource Manager Mononita handed over a cheque worth Tk83,39,528 and Human Resource Manager of LafargeHolcim Kazi Mianur Rahman Tk67,39,043.
According to Bangladesh labour law, a company has to contribute a percentage of its net profit to Bangladesh Labour Welfare Fund.
Labour and employment Secretary KM Ali Azam and Director General of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Fund Dr Rezaul Haque, among others, were present at the ceremony.
