Mr Kedar Lele, chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) of Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the company on Tuesday.

Mr Lele has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBL by its board members at the 180th meeting of the Board of Directors of the company, said a press release issued by UBL on Wednesday.

Mr Lele succeeds Mr Kamran Bakar, who served as Chairman of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd since 2012, the release added.

Mr Lele joined UBL as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) on June 1, 2017 and subsequently was appointed as its Managing Director (MD) on January 1, 2018.

He will continue to be both the Chairman and Managing Director of the company, the release said.
