Issuance of Sukuk: Beximco holds extraordinary general meeting

To expand its solar and textile businesses, Beximco Ltd is set to raise Tk3,000 crore by issuing Sukuk.

In compliance with Islamic finance principles, a Sukuk is an Islamic financial certificate which is similar to a treasury bond, said a media statement issued by the company on Thursday.

To this respect, Beximco held a virtual Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Wednesday which approved the company's decision of raising Tk Tk3,000 crore by issuing Sukuk. 

Salman F Rahman, chairman of the company presided over the meeting, while Iqbal Ahmed, its vice chairman; OK Chowdhury and AB Siddiqur Rahman, directors; Mohammad Asad Ullah, company secretary; were joined the meeting.

A good number of shareholders of the company also joined the virtually held EGM.
