Huawei carrier congress begins to amplify digital growth
Minister of Post and Telecommunication Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the event virtually on 29 April and it will be continued till almost the end of May.
Leading global ICT solutions provider Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited has started a special event titled "Huawei Carrier Congress 2021" with industry stakeholders from home and abroad.
The congress aims to exchange views about technology trends and other aspects that may influence the tech world in the coming days, reads a press release on Friday.
Minister of Post and Telecommunication Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the event virtually on 29 April and it will be continued till almost the end of May.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder was present at the event as the special guest while Edward Zhou, vice-president of Global Public Affairs of Huawei; Zhang Zhengjun, chief executive officer of, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, among others, were present at the programme.
Managing Director of Windsore Place Consulting Scott W Minehane and Amit Reaz from Asia Pacific Office of ITU also joined the event with their insightful presentation on 'National Broadband Reference Sharing' and 'Digital Transformation: Expectation and Considerations for IMT2020roll out' respectively. Additionally Konesh Kochhal, director of Industry Ecosystem Engagements at Huawei Asia Pacific Region talked about Digital Bangladesh opportunities.
Various MNOs, including the telecom operators, partners, regulators, think-tanks, academia, from Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal are expected to join this event in next few days virtually and physically maintaining precautions for Covid-19.
In his speech, the chief guest Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the guidance of her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, we are very sincere in making the dream of Digital Bangladesh a reality. We have established Telecom industry as a significant sector of the country. And now we are relishing the outcomes of the direction we took."
He added, "The rapid march of Bangladesh towards comprehensive digital transformation is very encouraging and satisfying indeed, and I would like to thank Huawei for being one of the enabling forces of our digital transformation. An event like today will also contribute a lot as it will inspire us to think out of the box and explore ideas necessary to cope with an intelligent world awaiting us in the near future."
