City Bank launches instant account opening app - ‘City Ekhoni Account’
This app will replace traditional method of account opening which requires customers to visit a branch and fill up required forms
City Bank has introduced 'City Ekhoni App', a mobile app for customers to open an account instantly from the comfort of their home.
This app will replace the traditional method of account opening which requires customers to visit a branch and fill up required forms.
Using the 'City Ekhoni App', interested customers who have NID card will be able to open their own bank account. This app is available for both iOS and Android users.
Account opening is very simple using the City Ekhoni Account App. At first, customers have to install the 'City Ekhoni Account' app from respective app stores. After opening the app, customers are asked to choose the type of account they want to open.
The next step is OTP verification by which the customer's mobile number is verified. Then the customer has to upload images of the front and backside of NID, which will be verified in real time. Once NID is verified, customer will be asked to take his selfie.
Upon selfie verification, customers will have to provide a few more information. After submitting the information, the customer will have to select the desired product and branch. After that, the account is opened in real time.
The customer will receive their bank account number through SMS and will be able to start transacting right away.
City Bank has introduced E-KYC following the guidelines provided by Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, BFIU.
City Bank Managing Director Mashrur Arefin said that this cutting edge digital onboarding process will open up the platform of digital banking to millions of unbanked Bangladeshi people and will work towards bringing them under the umbrella of financial inclusion.
"Customers can open account from the comfort of their home and avoid coming into branches during the time of the current pandemic and safeguard themselves from the virus", hoped the Chief Executive of the Bank.
