bKash welcomes Uber customers with 30% discount on first two rides

bKash, a mobile financial service provider, has offered a 30% discount on first two trips for Uber customers who would add bKash on Uber app till October 31.

The discount under the offer can be up to Tk70 per ride.

After the launch of the long-awaited service, this offer campaign has started on September 1 to encourage customers in contactless digital payment.

Users can enjoy the discount by only using Uber app where the bKash account is linked. A customer must have an Uber as well as an active bKash customer account to avail this offer.

Shamsuddin Haider Dalim, head of Corporate Communication and public relation at bKash, told The Business Standard that this offer has been launched to welcome ride-sharing customers to the mobile financing app.

"The total discounted amount in two rides would not exceed Tk140," he said.

Meanwhile, Uber said in a press release that customers can add bKash payment option by following some easy steps.

Uber app users need to select "Wallet" or "Payment" in the touch menu, tap "Add Payment Method" and "bKash" subsequently, and then add account information.

They will receive a notification for successfully linking bKash to Uber.

Recently, Uber and bKash have announced a partnership which enables Uber riders to pay for their trips using bKash automatically.

The partnership gives millions of Bangladeshi riders the convenience of seamlessly taking Uber rides without the inconvenience of carrying cash or worrying about exact change.

Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of the Brac Bank, US based Money in Motion, International Finance Corporation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ant Group, operates as a payment service provider offering broad range of digital financial services under the regulation of the Bangladesh Bank.
