Apon Wellbeing launches new fair price outlet in Gazipur
Workers at fair price outlets receive an up to 10% discount on every purchase, free health insurance and a free credit facility
Apon Wellbeing Ltd, winner of the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge 2019, launched its 15th fair price outlet in the country at Elite Garments Industries Ltd in Gazipur.
According to a press release, PVH Bangladesh opened up its partner factories for Apon Wellbeing-after the company won the Frontier Challenge 2019 – to avail this outlet at Elite Garments.
Najeeb Sayed, country head and senior director of PVH Bangladesh; Sajedur Seraj, deputy managing director of Elite Garments Industries Ltd; and Saif Rashid, managing director of Apon Wellbeing Ltd were present during the inauguration ceremony of the outlet, it added.
Apon Wellbeing is operating fair price shops in more than 14 different factories including factories of: Mohammadi Group, Islam Group, Renaissance Group, SQ Group, Esquire Group, etc.
Workers at these outlets receive an up to 10% discount on every purchase, free health insurance and a free credit facility. From now onward, all employees of Elite will be able to avail these benefits.
So far, these fair price outlets have impacted more than 37,000 workers' lives directly – from which more than 2,500 workers have received health insurance worth up to Tk15,000 per insurance holder. From the discount, health services and credit facilities the total accumulated savings is $180,000.
Addressing the ceremony, Sajedur Seraj of Elite Garments said, "We are very excited to launch the fair price shop at our factory premises to ensure workers' wellbeing."
Najeeb Sayed of PVH Bangladesh said, "Apon won the global competition representing the largest economic sector of the country, and day by day it is increasing its number of fair price outlets and wellbeing coverage to cover more workers."
