Wildlife conservationist Anisuzzaman Khan breathes his last
He was found dead in a bus at Chauddagram in Comilla around 4.30 pm on Monday
Renowned wildlife and biodiversity conservationist Anisuzzaman Khan was found dead in a passenger bus in Cumilla's Chauddagram area today.
Chauddagram Circle's Assistant Superintendent of police Jahidul Islam told The Business Standard that a police team received a call from the bus operator and rushed to the spot where they found him dead on a seat of the passenger bus.
Shakil Ahmed, organising secretary of Isabela Foundation, where Anisuzzaman has been working as the chief scientist, told TBS that the conservationist had been in Cox's Bazar for work and was returning to Dhaka today.
They later received the news of his death from Chaddogram Police Station, Shakil said.
Born in 1957 in Ballia Boro Bari of Dhamrai, Dhaka, Anisuzzaman studied in Manikganj High School and Devendra College. He got his bachelors and masters degree from Rajshahi University.
His wild life career started under project Elephant Management in Teknaf. After that, he worked with IUCN, BCAS before founding the non-government organisation NACOM – a conservation movement.
He had also worked in Dubai municipality as an environment officer for four years. Lately, he had been the chief scientist at Isabela Foundation.
Anisuzzaman Khan is the younger brother of wildlife expert and conservationist Dr Reza Khan.
