US Embassy has organised a workshop series in Rajshahi aims to enhance student-police relations in Bangladesh.
The opening ceremony of the workshop arranged by Department of Defense and Department of Justice's Student Leadership Development of the embassy held on Thursday, said a press today.
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and Rajshahi Additional Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Sujayet Islam provided remarks to 30 students from Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi College, and five Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Officers during the opening ceremony of this year.
Since 2016, the United States Department of Defense and Department of Justice utilised this program to enhance student-police engagements through leadership development focused on countering violent extremism, mentorship, community policing, and tolerance.
The series' five seminars involved over 150 Rajshahi students and 25 police officers, promoting the U.S. Embassy's whole of government effort to countering violent extremism.
Ambassador Miller applauds programs like the Student Leadership Development Workshop, which illustrate the United States and Bangladesh's enduring commitment to building a brighter future together.
