US Deputy Secretary of State Biegun to travel to India, Bangladesh
From 14-16 October, Stephen E Biegun will visit Dhaka to meet with senior government officials
United States (US) Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E Biegun will visit New Delhi, India from 12-14 October, where he will meet with senior government officials and deliver keynote remarks at the India-US Forum.
Building on Secretary Pompeo's 6 October meeting with Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, and ahead of the US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue later this year, Biegun's engagements in India will focus on advancing the US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Meetings will also cover how the US and India can work together to advance peace, prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific region and around the globe, according to a press release.
From 14-16 October, Biegun will visit Dhaka to meet with senior government officials and reaffirm the US-Bangladesh partnership, it adds.
The deputy secretary's engagements in Bangladesh will focus on advancing the two countries' common vision of a free, open, inclusive, peaceful, and secure Indo-Pacific region with shared prosperity for all. US-Bangladesh cooperation on Covid-19 response and recovery efforts as well as sustainable economic development will also be covered, the statement reads.
