US ambassador encourages US-Bangladesh military ties
Miller also discusses food security and scopes for business investment
US Ambassador in Dhaka Earl R Miller has extended support for the growing military partnership between the US and Bangladesh and promoted cultural and economic engagement between the two nations during a visit to Bogura, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat and Dinajpur.
The ambassador attended the third joint military exercise of the US Air Force and Bangladesh Air Force in Lalmonirhat, titled “Exercise Pacific Angel”.
The joint exercise is focused on humanitarian assistance, disaster relief management and civil-military operations, aimed to enhance mutual cooperation between the forces of the two countries.
Miller met high officials in Rangpur and discussed business investment opportunities of the US-based companies in Bangladesh.
He also discussed issues related to food security while visiting a small farm named Joikko in the district, which promotes food security in the country.
Bangladeshi alumni of two educational exchange programmes – International Visitor Leadership Program and Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study – shared with Miller how their academic experiences are contributing to the improvement of good governance, human rights situation and pluralism in Bangladesh.
During his three-day visit, the ambassador explored historic and culturally significant sites and praised Bangladesh’s multi-cultural nature.
Miller also put emphasis on religious freedom and human rights for all populations.
