Two Rohingya people, including a woman were killed in a landslide due to heavy rainfall at the Teknaf and Ukhiya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Nur Hasina, 20, wife of Shaker Ahmed of Chakmarkul camp-21 in Teknaf, and Rahim Ullah, 35, son of late Achiur Rahman of Balukhali Moynarghona camp-12 in Ukhiya.
Confirming the news, 16 APBN captain, SP Md Tariqul Islam, and 8 APBN additional superintendent of police, Khandaker Ashfaquzzaman, said the two Rohingyas were killed in separate incidents during the landslides.
Chunks of mud from the surrounding hills collapsed on the refugee camps during heavy rainfall, leaving Nur Hasina critically injured and Rahim Ullah dead on the spot, according to police.
Hasina was taken to the 'Save the Children' hospital where the doctor declared her dead.
The bodies will be handed over to their families after completing legal procedures, police added.
