The Prime Minister's Adviser on Private Industries and Investment Salman F Rahman today said two deep sea ports will be established in Chattogram's Matarbari and Patuakhali's Payra within three to four years.
"The ports will be a game-changer for trading," said Salman at 33rd conference of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) in a city hotel.
"Not having deep sea ports is a big challenge for us as we are currently doing export-import business using ports of Singapore and Colombo," Salman added.
Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Samir Modi was present at the conference.
Representatives from 27 countries, including the US, the UK, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Turkey have joined the conference this year.
