Train services will remain suspended until further notice from Monday (5 April) across the country, said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan.

"The train services have been suspended as the government is imposing lockdown form Monday. However, goods carrying trains will remain out of purview of the restrictions," the minister told The Business Standard today.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh government imposed a 7-day countrywide lockdown, starting from Monday, primarily as Covid-19 situation has taken a very dangerous turn here.

Train services remained halted for long time during lockdown last year.
