Railway minister praises CREC for their performance in Padma Bridge construction

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon appreciated the management and staff of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) for their excellent performance in the Padma Bridge construction project.

The minister made the remarks at the ceremony of erecting the last segment of box girders of the North Railway Approach Viaduct of Padma Rail Link Project on Tuesday.

The ministry has delivered a letter of appreciation to the contractor of CREC.

The minister said at Tuesday's programme, "A total of 172 km rail line would be constructed from Dhaka to Vanga under Padma rail link project."

Saying that the Vanga station will be an iconic one, the minister said that the Vanga-Mawa line has progressed 60 percent which makes 40 percent progress for the total project.

"We have the target to introduce the Vanga-Mawa railway line on the bridge inauguration day, "he added.

He said the last span of the priority line would be installed by June this year.

"We have more than one year in our hand, the construction of the rail line would be completed before the dateline," the minister said.
