The Kopotakkho Intercity was supposed to enter the station through Line-2 but the point man mistakenly cleared line-1, on which the Six-down mail was standing

Two passenger trains narrowly escaped collision at Arani station in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on Thursday.
Ruhul Amin Siraj, the driver of the Kopotakkho Intercity halted the train 15 yards away from the Ishwardi bound Six-down mail train.
"The intercity train was not supposed to stop at Arani station," said Siraj.
"After crossing the east side of the station I saw another train on the line, so I stopped the train immediately," he added.
According to a source, the Six-down mail train was on halt at Arani station when the Kopotakkho Intercity from Khulna was going toward Rajshahi.
