When they reached Katakhali area of Kaliganj, a motorcycle carrying three people who were coming from Shyamnagar blocked them. They shot two blank fires and got away taking away Tk26 lakh

Miscreants hijacked Tk26 lakh from bKash officials at Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira on Thursday. 

The victims are Prodip Kumar Dey, branch manager of Shyamnagar upazila bKash agent office, Tamim, field officer and Mithun, customer care officer.

They said they were on the way to Shyamnagar after withdrawing Tk26 lakh from the Satkhira branch of South East Bank around 2 pm.

When they reached Katakhali area of Kaliganj, a motorcycle carrying three people who were coming from Shyamnagar blocked them. They shot two blank fires and got away taking away Tk26 lakh.

The victims informed the police about the incident. Police seized one fresh bullet and two shells from the spot.

Delower Hossain, the officer in charge (OC) at Kaliganj Police Station, said, "The police visited the spot and seized one fresh bullet and two shells. The investigation is going on. We cannot say who was involved in the incident before the investigation is completed."

We are also investigating if the three officers of bKash were involved in the incident. We are interrogating them. The police will be able to find out those involved in the hijacking and they will be brought under trial, he added.

The incident of hijack with open fire has created tension in the area. The hijack on a busy road has been a buzz word.
