Robi launches innovative digital distribution network
Customers are now able to use this solution to digitally purchase SIMs and other services from Robi
Robi Axiata Limited has launched an innovative digital distribution network model for its retailers, distributors and customers.
This digital solution was unveiled at a webinar held on Sunday, read a press release.
It brings stakeholders of the company to a digital platform to conduct their business with Robi digitally, Robi's Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmad said at the programme.
Robi and Airtel retailers around the country will now be able to purchase their load balance from Robi through an app and they can serve their customers better with the digital solution, he added.
Distributors will also be able to use similar features and customers are now able to use this solution to digitally purchase SIMs as well as other services from Robi.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "Be it a 5G trial run, VoLTE (Voice over Long-Term Evolution) introduction, Robi is always the first to come forward. As part of the Digital Bangladesh vision, we now need to quickly expand connectivity and shift to a cashless society."
"Our tremendous achievement during the Covid-19 pandemic will remain an inspiration for us to move forward with our vision," he said.
Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, managing director and chief executive officer of Robi, said Robi's Digital Distribution network is going to change the face of the distribution network forever in the country.
"This is just the beginning, going forward, we look forward to applying data analytics, Artificial Intelligence and alternative credit rating solutions to further enhance efficiency of our digital distribution model," he added.
Nagad's Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk said the banks need to come forward with an improvised lending scheme so that retailers can also get access to crucial financial support to grow their business.
Mutual Trust Bank's Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman said, "We realise that conventional banking will have to evolve soon to remain relevant for the changing demands of the customers. Robi's initiative to digitise its distribution network has created the scope for us to reach out to the vast segment of the unbanked population."
Nagad, one of the leading mobile financial service providers, is providing the payment gateway related support as a partner of this initiative. bKash is going to be on-boarded as well shortly.
City Bank and IPDC have already partnered with Robi to provide the financing for distributors. Mutual Trust Bank is going to join hands with Robi for retailer financing.
With this, distributors and retailers will have access to financing support from the banks on an emergency, fast-track, basis.
