Grameenphone appoints new head in digital and strategy department

Grameenphone (GP) recently appointed Solaiman Alam as its new chief digital and strategy officer, effective from April 22.

He had been serving as the acting chief digital and strategy officer since January 1, 2020 in Grameenphone, said a press release.

Solaiman started his career in GP in 2016 as head of marketing. Later in 2017, he switched to the digital division.

In his speech, Solaiman said, "I am very excited about this new challenge. This is a very challenging time for us and also an opportunity to work towards our strategic ambition of empowering society."

"Being at the forefront of driving digital transformation, I am proud of what we have already achieved in Grameenphone and want to reiterate our commitment towards business growth through digital innovation and developing capabilities."

Grameenphone's Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman said, "Solaiman contributed immensely in building organisational capabilities, developing leadership, and enhancing collaboration. He has been one of the pioneers in practicing agile ways in the organisation and is well known for his passion for business, strategic approaches and innovative mindset."

"I am happy that in our extremely competitive market, Solaiman proved his ability to cope up with the ever changing digital landscape, new ways of work, driving agility, and peoples' engagement to continue the growth momentum and to make a difference."

Before joining Grameenphone, Solaiman worked for several multinational companies holding various positions. He has completed his BBA from IBA, Dhaka University.
