Teacher loses hand, 12 students hurt in Gopalganj road crash

A female teacher of Willes Little Flower School and College of Dhaka lost her left hand and 12 students were injured as a bus carrying them hit a truck in Ghonapara area of Gopalganj's Sadar upazila today.

The teacher is identified as Fahima Begum.

According to Gopalganj Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, the bus carrying students and teachers of the college branch of Wills Little Flower School and College of Dhaka hit a stranded truck at around 12pm as its driver lost control over the steering.

They came to Gopalganj on a study tour and was going to visit the monument of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara.

The injured teacher and 11 students of Willes Little Flower School were admitted to 250-bed Gopalganj General Hospital, Dr Ayesha Akter, assistant director of the control room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.

The left hand of Fahima Begum has been severed and she was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Gopalganj fire service officials.
