Tarique Rahman gets 2-year jail for denigrating Bangabandhu
According to the case statement, Tarique Rahman, who is staying in London, made insulting remarks on Bangabandhu at a rally on 16 December of the year. Even he termed Bangabandhu as Razakar.
A Narail court has sentenced Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP, to two-year imprisonment in a case filed over denigrating Banglabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Amatul Morsheda, judge of the judicial magistrate's court-2 of Narail, passed the order on Thursday. He also fined the BNP leader TK10,000.
Freedom Fighter Shahjahan Biswas, former commander of Kalia Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad and a ruling party activist from Bendarchar village, had filed the case on 24 December, 2014.
