Tarik Ahsan new Bangladesh Ambassador to Portugal
Ahsan is currently serving as the High Commissioner to Pakistan

The government has decided to appoint Tarik Ahsan as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to Portugal, the foreign ministry says.
Ahsan, a career diplomat belong to the ninth batch of BCS foreign service, is currently serving as the High Commissioner to Pakistan, reads a press release.
In his diplomatic career, Ambassador Ahsan served at Bangladesh Missions in Riyadh, Jakarta, Berlin and Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN in New York in different capacities.
He also served as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka.
Tarik Ahsan also headed different Directorates and Wings, notably Europe Directorate and International Organizations Wing.
He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).
Ambassador Ahsan secured a Post-graduate Diploma in International Relations and Development from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague.
Apart from attending different training courses in Bangladesh as a civil servant, he also received training at United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in New York and Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore.
He was a news presenter of the Bangladesh Television from 1991 to 1996.
He is married and blessed with a child.
