Six cops suspended over vandalising freedom fighter’s house ‘mistakenly’
Locals alleged that the attack took place because Anwar was a witness in the war crimes tribunal. He was vocal against the anti-liberation forces and was threatened by them.

Six police officials including three sub-inspectors have been suspended for attacking and vandalising deceased freedom fighter Anwar Hossain Bangali's house in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The suspended officials are Sub-inspectors Kamrul Islam and Tusta Lal Bishwash of Chakaria Police Station, and Assistant Sub-inspector Zed Rahman. The names of the constable could not be known immediately.
The suspension order was made by Cox's Bazar Police Superintendent Md Iqbal Hossain on Friday. A three-member probe committee headed by Md Iqbal was also formed to investigate the matter.

Anwar's son Rezaul Karim Saleem blamed local union parishad chairman and Jamaat leader Golam Mustafa Kaiser for the incident. However, Anwar declined the allegations.
Talking to The Business Standard, Police Super Md Iqbal said it was a misunderstanding.
