Satkhira man and woman didn’t commit suicide, they were murdered: Police
Though primarily the incident was assumed as suicide, after investigation police now have said that it was murder over extramarital affair
Police have arrested two persons in connection with the recovery of hanging two bodies with the same rope on a mango tree at Sripatipur village in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira.
The arrested are Sheikh Ahsan alias Hasan, son of Sheikh Abdul Hai of the village and his younger brother Sheikh Asad.
They were arrested in the early hours of Monday.
Earlier on Sunday morning, the bodies of Sheikh Ahsan alias Hasan's wife Fatema Begum, 40, and Karim Par, 30, of Dhumghat Dakshinpara village in Shyamnagar upazila of the district were found hanging with the same rope.
Satkhira Sadar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mirza Salauddin, said during the investigation, the police came to know that the double murder took place because of extramarital affair.
The killers later hanged the bodies on the tree to stage the incident as suicide.
He said, "Fatema Begum and Karim Par had a long-term love affair. On Sunday night, Fatima's husband Ahsan alias Hasan saw the duo in an unpleasant condition. Hasan then hit Karim's head with an iron rod and strangulated his wife Fatema Begum to death. Later, with his younger brother Sheikh Asad hanged the bodies."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalaroa Police Station, Mir Khairul Kabir said, "Joynal Par, father of Karim Par, has filed a murder case. Police have solved the murder. Two accused have been arrested. Preparations are underway to send them to court. Chargesheets against the accused will be filed in the court soon."
