Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood, the incumbent director general of South Asia Wing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been picked as the next Bangladesh ambassador to Spain.

Mahmood is a career foreign service officer belonging to 17th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre.
He served in various positions in Bangladesh missions in Brussels, Singapore, New York and Hong Kong in his distinguished diplomatic career. At the headquarters, he worked for multiple Wings in different capacities, the ministry revealed.
Mohammad Sarwar Mahmood obtained his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration under the University of Dhaka and Bachelor with Honors and Masters degree in Economics from the same University.
He is a fellow of the Asia pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS), Hawaii, USA. He also completed 'National Defence Course (NDC)' from the National Defence College, Bangladesh.
