Rozina's family to sue Secretariat officials who assaulted her

The family of Prothom Alo's Senior Reporter Rozina Islam will file a case for assaulting her on allegation of taking snapshots of an official document at the Secretariat on Monday.

Her husband Monirul Islam came up with the remark while responding to reporters in front of court today morning.

Monirul Islam said his wife was assaulted and tortured and everyone saw the video footage of the incident.

Meanwhile, her sister alleged that constable Mizan threatened Rozina.

Earlier in the day, Rozina Islam was taken to the court from police station around 8am. Police have sought five-day remand for her in a case filed under Official Secrets Act.

Rozina Islam was detained for allegedly taking snapshots of an official document at the Secretariat without due permission and later shown arrested in the case filed by deputy secretary Shibbir Osmani last night.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon when Rozina went to the health ministry inside the Secretariat as part of professional duty around 3:30pm. At one stage, she was locked in a room there and her mobile phone was confiscated.

Hours after detention, the case has been filed against her under the Official Secrets Act.
