Bus owners and workers of eight southwestern districts have decided to form a human chain on Tuesday.

Bus movement on inter-district routes will also remain halted for half an hour - from 11am to 11.30am - on the day.

The districts are Barishal, Patuakhali, Borguna, Bhola, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Bagerhat, and Khulna.

The leaders of various bus owners and workers' organisations took the decision on Thursday in demand of banning the movement of BRTC buses, three-wheelers and bike ride sharing on highways and regional highways of the districts.

"Bus owners are incurring losses due to the movement of BRTC buses, three wheelers and ride sharing bike on roads irregularly along with the movement of distance vehicles without route permits," said Kawser Hossain Shipon, convener of Owners-Workers Regional Union Council and general secretary of Barishal divisional Owners-Workers Coordinating Council.
