Selim was under stress over going to his workplace amid coronavirus scare

A readymade garment worker died of cardiac arrest on the way to his workplace in Chattogram on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Selim Uddin, 45, an assistant manager at Zirat Fashion Ltd at Bayazid Bostami area in Chattogram.

Selim, son of Rahmat Ali hailing from the district's Satkania upazila, was a father of three.

Rayhan Uddin, nephew of the deceased, said Selim was under stress over going to his workplace amid coronavirus scare.And eventually, he started for the office on Sunday morning.

But he collapsed and died of a heart attack while waiting for a car in the port city's Tigerpass area.

Delwar Hossain, sub-inspector at Khulshi Police Station, told The Business Standard that on information, they recovered Selim's body sent to it a hospital morgue for an autopsy.

His family received the body after doctors confirmed his death from a natural cause.

Reagan Uddin, manager at the human resources department of Zirat Fashion, said, "We are open today only to pay wages to workers. However, our production remains suspended."
According to industrial police sources, 1,229 factories are still operating in the district and of those, 377 factories remain open on general holidays.
