Rajshahi has got the "Environment Friendly City of the Year 2020" award for its green look and clean air.
The award was given on Saturday at the Channel i Prokriti Mela, a joint arrangement by Prokriti O Jibon Foundation - working on environment - and private TV channel Channel i.
The 10th edition of the fair is being organised this year on the premises of Channel i in Dhaka.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud handed over the medal to Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton. Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Mukit Majumder Babu and other distinguished guests were also present at the event.
Rajshahi City Corporation authorities said this achievement is a result of their long-term planning for urban development and their adoption of Zero Soil Project.
Rajshahi, a tranquil northern city of Bangladesh situated by the Padma River, has already earned global reputation for rapidly reducing harmful particles in its air.
