The agitators under the banner ‘Jahangirnagar against Corruption’ held a black flag protest at the Shaheed Minar premises
The protesting teachers and students of the university continued their demonstrations on Wednesday demanding removal of the vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam amid the admission tests.
The agitators under the banner 'Jahangirnagar against Corruption' held a black flag protest at the Shaheed Minar premises around 1 pm and read out a written statement.
The statement noted that although the VC's corruption and mismanagement have been unveiled numerous times, no action has been taken against her.
The protests started from August 23 demanding judicial inquiry into the reported involvement of the vice-chancellor and her family in corruption and mismanagement of Tk 1445 crore-worth development projects on the campus.
Protesters alleged that the VC gave Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) JU unit leaders Tk 1.6 crore from the development fund and three BCL activists had already confessed their involvement with the secret commission sharing incident.
University teachers Tarek Reza, Jamal Uddin Runu, Khabir Uddin, Kamrul Ahsan, Anwarullah Bhuiyan, Shamima Sultana, Hasan Mahmud, Najmul Hasan Taluqder and leaders and activists of different cultural and political organisations were present at the protest.
