Prisoner missing from Ctg jail: 3 jail officials suspended

Three officials, including the superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail have been suspended for their negligence as an inmate went missing from the jail.
Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) of Chattogram Division AKM Fazlul Huq confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.
The suspended officials are- Jailer Rafiqul Islam, prison guards Nazim Uddin and Yunus Mia.
Besides, a departmental case has been filed against senior prison guard Kamal Haidar.
A three-member probe committee, led by DIG Kabir Mia, has been formed in this regard.
Following the disappearance of the inmate, the prison authorities rang "Pagla Ghonta", a metal bell used to produce a siren, on Saturday.
The missing prisoner could not be traced as of filing this report. The authorities have taken initiatives to find him deploying extra riot police.
Later, jail authorities filed a case on Saturday night over the prisoner missing.
