Tabith Awal attacked during electioneering

A group of men allegedly attacked and injured Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral aspirant Tabith Awal and his supporters in Gabtoli area of the capital this morning.
The incident took place when Tabith and his supporters were campaigning for the upcoming elections.
The attackers swooped on the mayor aspirant and his followers with sticks when they were electioneering near Parbata Cinema Hall in Gabtoli, witnesses said, adding they also threw eggs at Tabith.
The mayor aspirant sustained injuries on his head during the attack.
Darus Salam Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Dulal Hossain told The Business Standard, "Tension mounted when two groups confronted during electioneering in the area. We reached the spot fast and took the situation under control."
"No one filed any complaint to us and no one was arrested," he added.
