Khaleda Zia comes out of home after 1 year 20 days
After one year and 20 days of her stay at the Gulshan residence, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has finally come out in public to undergo a CT scan test at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
On Thursday night, she stepped out of home for the first time since March, 2020, when the government had suspended her jail sentence and she had been released from the former Dhaka Central Jail.
The former prime minister was taken to the hospital with tight security. Besides, security was beefed up centring the hospital, with all the adjacent roads blocked.
Eline Chowdhury, assistant commissioner (Badda zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the news to The Business Standard.
He said the main gate of the Basundhara Residential Area was blocked and no one was permitted to enter the area.
Khaleda Zia had tested positive for Covid-19 recently and been under doctor's supervision at her residence – Feroza – in Gulshan.
However, physicians said her physical condition was stable.
