Chattogram City Corporation polls on 27 January

The belated polls in Chattogram City Corporation will be held on 27 January.

Election Commission Secretary Md Alamgir announced the new date for the election on Monday.

The election, which was scheduled to be held on 29 March, was postponed in the wake of a coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Md Alamgir said candidates interested can submit their nomination papers on the wards where opposition candidates have died.

Candidates can submit their nomination papers for the reserved ward-6 along with three other wards -- 30, 37 and 40 till 30 December, he added.

Candidacy can be withdrawn within 7 January. However, those who have already submitted their nomination papers need not submit again, said Alamgir.
