Broom procession brought out against Rowshan Ershad in Rangpur

The Jatiya Mahila Party today brought out a broom procession in Rangpur against Rowshan Ershad protesting her “involvement into conflicts” with GM Quader over Jatiya Party (JP) leadership.

Beginning from in front of the JP’s central road office, the procession marched along the main thoroughfares of the city where party leaders and activists chanted slogans against Rowshan.

Later, a protest rally was held at the party office where leaders declared they would not accept Rowshan as the JP chairman.

They also lent their support to GM Quader whom late JP chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad declared the party chief in his absence.

They called for immediate discharge of Rowshan Ershad – wife of Ershad and JP Senior Co-chairperson, lawmaker Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud and others within 24 hours from the party for not complying with the order of Ershad.

At the rally, Jatiya Mahila Party president Nayeem Jesmin, Secretary Josna Begum, JP City President Jesmin Begum and General Secretary Jesmin Akhtar, including others, delivered their speeches.

On the other hand, the Lalmonirhat JP too burned Rowshan in effigy on Thursday evening and declared her disqualified to enter the district.

Earlier, a tussle developed for JP leadership between the two senior leaders as Rowshan yesterday sent a letter to Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin, requesting not to accept Quader’s letter declaring him the opposition leader in parliament.

In the letter, she said Quader was not the party’s chairman but the acting chairman.

On the issue, both GM Quader and Rowshan Ershad yesterday arranged separate press briefings in the capital.
