BNP is playing politics with Khaleda Zia's treatment: Quader
He was addressing a function at the Awami League central office for distributing PM Sheikh Hasina’s Eid gifts to people
Obaidul Quader, general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, said BNP leaders are playing politics with the medical treatment of its chairperson, Khaleda Zia.
"I wish Khaleda Zia's complete and quick recovery. But BNP leaders are giving more importance to politics than her treatment," he said.
He said this addressing a function at the central office of Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue on Monday, for distributing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Eid gifts and Covid-19 protective materials to people on the initiative of the Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee of the Awami League.
Joining the programme virtually, the Road Transport and Bridges minister said, "The opposition party and local and foreign media are criticising the government for the mad rush of people to their village homes for celebrating Eid amid Covid-19."
"Observing the type of questions by a foreign media recently, it is clear that they are inciting people against the government over the matter. But my question to them: did the government have an alternative? People also need to be aware of addressing Covid-19," he said.
Due to the right decision of the government, the death rate has come down to 50 from 112 and the infection rate has declined to 2,000 from 6,000, Obaidul Quader said.
In the meantime, 13 Awami League organisations have set an example by providing relief assistance to the people during Covid-19, he added.
Obaidul Quader further said the truth is never hidden for long. In the Covid-19 test report, Khaleda Zia mentioned her birthday as 8 May. It has revealed that the exact date of the BNP Chairperson's birthday is 8 May, not August 15.
The AL General Secretary has criticized Khaleda Zia for repeatedly celebrating a fake birthday even as a former prime minister.
Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee Chairman of AL, AKM Rahmatullah, presided over the function.
Awami League Presidium Member Matia Chowdhury, Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, Awami League Central Committee Members Shamim Hossain and engineer Mozaffar Hossain MP, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League General Secretary Humayun Kabir and others, were present on the occasion.
