Police recover ammunition snatched by Hefazat men

Twenty rounds of bullets, which were snatched from a policeman during the clashes between police and Hefazat-e-Islam activists in Brahmanbaria, have been recovered.

The bullets were recovered from a sweet shop in Suhilpur Bazar of Sadar upazila on Friday evening, confirmed Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Md Raich Uddin.

He said, "Two members of Moulvibazar district police were attacked by Hefazat-e-Islam men on their way to Brahmanbaria on 27 March. At that time, Hefazat activists attacked them and snatched 20 rounds of bullets from one of the policemen. Later, Moulvibazar police filed a case against unidentified accused in this regard."

"We made an arrest based on intelligence information. Following the tip-off provided by the detainee, we recovered the bullets," he added.

Police have arrested two accused in the case on Friday. They are Arab Ali, 40, of South Kendubari of Suhilpur union and Md Monir Miah, 42, of Hindupara of Suhilpur village.
