PM again helps Nayeem Gauhar's family
The prime minister also instructed the authorities concerned to hand over a plot of land or flat to the family of Nayeem Gauhar immediately

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has again helped the family of independence award recipient, the late Geeti Kobi (lyricist) Nayeem Gauhar – donating Tk5 lakh to the family.
"The prime minister also instructed the authorities concerned to hand over a plot of land or flat to the family of Nayeem Gauhar immediately," the prime minister's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said on Friday.
He said the prime minister had donated Tk5 lakhs through her officials to Nayeem Gauhar's ailing wife Rizia Gauhar at her Uttara residence on Thursday.
In 2016, the prime minister gave Tk25 lakhs to Nayeem Gauhar's family and directed the authorities concerned to give a plot of land or flat to them. However, the family is yet to get the plot of land or flat due to various complications. When the premier's attention was drawn in this regard, she immediately sent Tk5 lakhs to the family," he said.
Gauhar's daughter actor Ilora Gauhar has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the prime minister for standing beside the family again.
She said her 76-year-old mother is at present bed-ridden as she has been suffering from cancer and Parkinson's disease.
Nayeem Gauhar died of old-age complications at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on October 7, 2015 at the age of 93.
He was admitted to the BSMMU Hospital as per the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In 2000, he underwent open-heart surgery with the overall cooperation of the prime minister.
Gauhar was conferred with the 2012 Swadhinata Purashkar (Independence Award) – the highest national award – for his outstanding contributions to the Liberation War.
He wrote numerous patriotic songs which provided much courage for freedom-loving people during the Liberation War.
