One killed in Narsingdi ‘gunfight’
DB police also recovered two foreign guns, one pipe gun and eight rounds of bullets from the spot
A man was killed in a reported gunfight with Narsingdi Detective Branch (DB) of police at Tatapara area in Madhabdi early Saturday.
The deceased, Awlad Hossain Mithun, 35, son of Zakir Hossain of the area, was a listed terrorist.
Sub-Inspector of District Intelligence Police Abdul Gaffar said Mithun and his associate Sohel were detained from Kanchan area of Narayanganj on Friday morning.
Police took Mithun to conduct a drive for recovering illegal arms at Tatapara area based on information provided by on Friday night.
“Meanwhile, Mithun’s accomplices opened fire on police, forcing the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight,” Gaffar said.
“Mithun sustained bullet injuries and two police officials were injured during the gunfight,” he added.
Mithun was later taken to Narsingdi District Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
DB police arrested Hridoy, 22, Mainul, 24, and Mehedi Hasan, 25, with two foreign guns, one pipe gun and eight rounds of bullets from the spot while others fled.
Mithun was wanted in some 12 cases filed with different police stations.
