Police have arrested a person for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident that killed lawyer Bhuban Chandra Sheel in the capital's Tejgaon a week ago. 

Maruf Billah alias Himel, 38, was held from Old Dhaka today (25 September), said SM Arif Raiyan, assistant commissioner of Tejgaon industrial zone of DMP.

According to police, Maruf Billah is acquainted with top criminal Mamun. They know each other for about 10-15 years. On the day of the incident, Maruf made multiple calls to Mamun to determine his whereabouts. Maruf was present at the crime scene.

Maruf will be produced in court on Tuesday with a 10-day remand please, Assistant Commission Arif Raiyan said, adding that further information will be available after interrogation.

On the night of 18 September night, a group of miscreants fired indiscriminately at a car of top criminal Tariq Saeed Mamun in Bangladesh Government Press area in Tejgaon.

At that time, Bhuban was shot in the head while returning to his home on a motorcycle. Later he was admitted to Dhanmondi Popular in the capital where he died while undergoing treatment today (25 September).
