According to family sources, Hassan Shahriar was admitted to Labaid Hospital with Covid-19 symptoms on Friday. Later, he was shifted to Impulse Hospital after he was denied admission at the Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital due to ICU-bed shortage.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the National Press Club premises after Asr prayers.

Later, he will be laid to rest at the Azimpur Graveyard.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of the veteran journalist.

In a condolence message, she said, "The role of Hassan Shahriar will be remembered in the history of journalism in Bangladesh."

The Premier prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
