Former Janata Bank chairman Luna Shamsuddoha has passed away. She was 53.
She had been suffering from colon cancer and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore where she breathed her last on Wednesday.
Her body will be flown back to Dhaka by Thursday morning.
Luna Shamsuddoha was the first female chairman of any state-owned bank. She was also the chairman of the software firm Dohatec New Media.
She is also founder and president of Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT). She received the Bangladesh Business Award-2017 for her contribution to the country's economy and was honoured with Anannya Top Ten Awards for her work in the local software industry as a women entrepreneur.
