Bir Sreshtho Mostafa Kamal’s mother dies
She breathed her last at around 7:40 am at her residence at Moutupi village in Sadar upazila of BHola
Maleka Begum, mother of Bir Sreshtho Mostafa Kamal, has died due to old age related complications today.
She was 96.
Dr Taiyabur Rahman, residential medical officer (RMO) of Bhola Sadar Hospital confirmed it to The Business Standard.
"She breathed her last at around 7:40 am at her residence at Moutupi village in Sadar upazila of BHola," he added.
Maleka Begum was admitted to Bhola Sadar Hospital on August 18. She was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on August 20, as her condition deteriorated. Maleka Begum was taken to her village residence after completing the treatment at CMH.
Maleka Begum left behind a son, two daughters and grandchildren to mourn her death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Bir Mata Maleka Begum.
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haqu also expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death.
Her namaz-e-janaza will be held after Asar prayer today. She will be buried at family graveyard at Moutupi village.
Deputy Commisisoner of Bhola Masud Alam Siddik said, "Necessary arrangements were taken for Maleka Begum's burial."
