Faridpur-4 lawmaker Mujibur Rahman Nixon Chowdhury has sought anticipatory bail in a case filed against him for violating election code of conduct.

The petition was filed with the High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal on Sunday.

The court has fixed next Tuesday for hearing on the bail application.

Earlier, the Election Commission filed a case against Nixon Chowdhury for violating the code of conduct in the Faridpur Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad by-election.

District Senior Election Officer Noabul Islam filed the case with Charbhadrasan Police Station in Faridpur.

Earlier, the Cabinet Division sent a letter to EC requesting to take legal action against MP Nixon Chowdhury for misbehaving with deputy commissioner (DC) and local administration officials including the UNO.

Tawhid Ilahi, senior assistant secretary of the Cabinet Division, filed the complaint to the Election Commission secretary on Monday demanding action against MP Nixon Chowdhury, Upazila Chairman Mohammad Kauser and their supporters over the violation.
